I rely on experts, and I use the scientific method and basic statistics to test all kinds of information, every day.

What I hate is being flooded by "experts" who have not one clue about what they are saying, and "news" articles purporting to report on what real experts say, and getting it wrong because the reporter has no idea what he or she is writing.

"The experts told me this is the case" therefore I bear no responsibility when it all goes sideways.

"Expert" worship and "science" worship are perfect for a society of people who don't want to think or take responsibility.

This sums up the religion of science and the outsourcing of people's critical thinking process.

"Why would I think about the implications of X, if the 'experts' say it's fine".

What they really mean is...

"Anyone who doesn't agree with me is literally Hitler."

It's very sad that extreme technological advancement has resulted in steep declines in intelligent discussion and logical argument. When I was younger, I always hoped it would be exactly opposite...

No, science and experts are perfectly fine and can be helpful when they are careful.
