I noticed this during the 2016 election. MSM websites avoided talking about Hillary who was their candidate instead devoting all their space to Trump and how awful he was. At the time, I was still making up my mind and would have appreciated articles on both candidates.
But bad publicity is still better than no publicity if you ask me.

Personally I'd say that not all bad publicity is actually bad nor are all good publicity actually good but any publicity is publicity
