I've said this before, and if I've considered this then you know the government types have too. No one is coming for your guns. No one. They don't have to. You're going to put them in a box and take them to your local sheriff's office. At least most will.

They know you, they have your purchase records, arguably even the NICS checks that they "don't keep". If they knew enough about you to "come after your guns", then they already know pretty well what you may have.

So all they do is send you a notice to deliver them, when and where. If you don't comply, they'll simply shut you down. Electricity, gas, water, phone, cable, internet, bank accounts, credit cards, ATM access. "No trouble citizen, simply deliver the firearms as requested and we'll turn it all back on again.". Oh, you'll get along for a short time, but unless you're a serious rural prepper type you won't go long without any services. They won't go all Ruby Ridge on many people, since they won't have to.

That's all it takes. Most of us are quite dependent on external services.

Bad move on their part. Now they just guaranteed that I would be coming to slaughter them, whereas otherwise I might have simply left my guns buried. A few reprisal attacks on soft targets will make them sorry they ever did such a thing.

A lot of great commentary on this site. Since most of us agree that gun confiscation is coming at some point, let's get ourselves ORGANIZED at the local city level and have some plans and options ready as to how we are going to deal with it. Let's not wait until they start kicking down our doors!

Well sure, that's a natural impulse. But who are you going to "go after"? Your bank teller? Branch manager? Someone at the sheriff's office? Where exactly do you go to exact your vengeance?

Yes.

Very few people, even us who understand more than most know how the world really works. This meme for example is not satire but that's what gulags are really like. In communism everyone is demotivated to work so they end up having to make people work somehow. How? They put the criminals to work. Not enough criminals? You can easily make more rules or ramp up enforcement.

It's sort of like how people don't realise that in North Korea the people who end up starving in the camps do so as once starvation is normal in the system people are selected to starve and it's the criminals that go first.

They are going to take away your guns. One way or another.

It's not what you think though. They don't care about guns. It's who has them. Many aren't going to go straight all out no more 2A. It'll be redflag laws then take away the guns of for example if a bunch of neighbours point out one wearing a MAGA hat.

Specifically one side will be disarmed. That's how it always is. Look at the origin of the Bill of Rights. Similar situation. They'll disarm their rivals first. It starts out like forum bans. You shave off the 5% of the worst. Then the next 5%, then the next. Before you know it half your people are gone.

They'll just say get rid of N amount of arms per citizen each month and start at the bottom as those are the most easily justified. Same as with one moment they're taking out Alex Jones at the bottom and then within the blink of an eye they've reached the top and are taking out Donald Trump.

Good analysis. That makes sense. My comment was intended to be more about "how" they'll do it, but for the "who" I think you're right on.

The worst thing is you know all these guns they're going to start collecting? Where do you think they'll end up?

Hint: Syrian "rebels".

The trick is proving I still have them.

Perhaps. But still, if they are convinced enough to "come for them", they'd just issue the suspension orders until you provide proof of disposition somehow. The burden will always be on you. "Boating accident" probably won't be good enough, unless you provide an insurance claim or some other proof.

I dunno, I'm not nefarious enough to think like they do. But knowing how they'll do it, you con think of various scenarios

I can stil sells guns to individuals without any form of receipt or background check.

For sure. Absolutely. There are a small percentage of weapons transferred and owned that way. Most of the criminals get theirs that way, apart from the ones that directly steal them.

Follow-on thought... if they do decide to literally come take them, it will be with serious intent.

It'll be at 3am. They'll be sure to have CNN cameras nearby and rolling. They'll line up a tactical stack on your porch, breach and enter. Any resistance will be suppressed with prejudice. All in HD, body cams, and so on.

The rest of the public will see the event, the talking heads will furrow their brows at this terrible result of a citizen failing to comply with a simple public safety request to turn in their firearms. So, citizens, for the safety of you and your neighbors, your family, be sure to comply and turn in your firearms upon request.

This won't devolve into lengthy stand-offs. It will be blitzkrieg, live in HD.

have you heard of 3d printers? the only thing that will do is cause a massive rise of 3d printing AR rifles.

I saw someone print an AR lower in PLA plastic, compensating for metal-casting shrink factor, and cast it in aluminum made from recycled cans. Took some doing, but it did work. I'm not sure it was much easier than just machining one from aluminum billet.

Presently there's no easy way to 3D print a rifle. You can still buy all the parts but a lower for an AR online, and there are various DIY ways to make lowers (the registered part of an AR).
