I didn't pay much attention at the the other than following some posts about occupy wall Street but I've seen many people in the last couple years talk about how this movement directly led to identity politics and all the woke crap as the elites figured out how to subvert it to get the pressure off them and get the plebians fighting amongst each other again

I hear this all the time. No. We never shared values. No government and industry didn't put identity politics into play to divide us. At least not then. It's been going on a lot longer than that. The enemy of my enemy isn't always my friend.

No. Wokism started as a way to explain the failures of the Obama admin. You can’t find any references to this shit pre-2010. Then Occupy happened and the banks saw that wokism could be used against the unified threat of people hating them.
