Oil is, imo, the best example of how Trump's trade policy works / helps the US.
Take a barrel of domestic oil. Sells for $50 and generates $5 in profit... leaving $45 spent in the US in labor, equipment, and company white collar offices.
OR; US lowers production and buys a mix of foreign oil. Oil goes up in price due to decrease in supply. Barrel costs $55 and all of that leaves our economy for the foreign oil. But even if the price didn't go up (say a different product)... the local production spread can still mean paying a bit less for a foreign product still extracts a ton of money from the domestic economy.
They should have taken it before it became a suppository..
