What even is Q anyway? I've looked a some stuff with it and basically all I saw was that the belief is there are a bunch of pedophiles in positions of power...which there probably are and then secondly Trump was trying to take them down...which his administration did seem to have a lot of success in tackling pedo rings.

It started as a guy on an anonymous imageboard. There are tons of LARP posts at any given time, but I guess Trump supporters brought a wave of boomers who never frequented these boards before, and they fell for it very hard. He made ridiculous predictions, sometimes in the forms of cryptic poems ("the star will gorge itself on clay") that could be interpreted in a million ways, sometimes made direct and clear predictions ("Hillary Clinton will be arrested in June 2018") which of course never came true. It's entertainment, not to be taken seriously, but as I said, boomers who never frequented the chans before never encountered such LARPs and, well, they also WANTED to believe it so much.

On a positive note, it kept people involved who otherwise might've been too bored with politics. It's like creating a show like "House of Cards", the show gains a fan following, people post theories about what will happen next on forums that are created explicitly for the show, people create fanart and write fan fiction etc. But it's all based on fantasy. It's a TV show. None of what is shown and what people talk about is actual reality. It's just entertainment.
