Yes, the 50 year old pipefitter that is trying to get his kid through college is going to "learn to code" and get a razzle dazzle fantastic job in Silicon Valley and there's no way, that some H1B Visa girl from Ireland or Apou from Indian isn't going to work that same job for a lower wage and with less benefits.
Union workers have been voting themselves out of union jobs for the last 40 years. They have yet to realize, at least in the private sector, their union stewarts and reps, aren't doing what is best for the workers. They are doing what is best for the Democrat party. It's already the case in the U.S. that 90% of union jobs are government jobs or are forced by law (Bacon Davis Act) to contract with government. I often wonder, if it weren't for the Bacon Davis Act, if there would be any private sector unions in the U.S. at all anymore because they pretty much only work government jobs because they're priced out of in the private sector.
Agreed, President Trump was the best thing for US tradesman in years, the unions should have figured this out (some did). Open borders do nothing but allow unskilled cheap labor in the country for folks that want to exploit it.
Problem is the heads of the unions are corrupt pieces of shit just like the heads of every other government agency and they don't give a fuck about what their workers want.
Especially not with the ageism in big tech.
Which of course they need to do, because they keep young kids who don't have a fully developed sense of morals yet.

I think the workers themselves are firmly voting right at this point. The leaders are in bed with the Democrats, but the rank and file doesn't seem to be.

In this world, the shit rises to the top.
Most "coders" can't even pass the Fizz Buzz test; they're shit. We don't need "more" of them, we need COMPETENT ones.
I consider myself an incompetent coder, and I support this message.
That's a good point. Most coders these days are too scared to use a command line.
We'll be worried about electricity soon not Fizz buzz or other stupid shit like that. You have no clue do you.
“Learn to code” is almost exclusively a term used by people who don’t know how to code
As a hobbyist I can't believe that. You got any stories?

They think pipelifters can just get into coding and they think coders can easily do things like farming. Like it's all so easy to switch into.
