Smartphone manufacturers in general have been trending towards making them more difficult to disassemble and repair.
I'm certain that was actually the main reason for the trend towards water resistance, and non-removable batteries. It's about sealing and gluing their phones together, instead of making all the components easily accessible.

There's not really a better method right now. The rapid change of technology leaves a lot of waste.

Rapid advancement yes, Rabid planned obsoleting and large scale attacks at fixing people fixing their private property. No.

Combine there rapid anti fix with intentional design flaws and we have brand new stuff that doesn't last as long as the older model
