I have lived in New Mexico for a long time, and it amazes me how little people know about how the state is run or where its money comes from.

If not for Oil and gas the state would have no money to run schools, and if not for 5 large federal installations most of its high income jobs would disappear.

People here always want to live in the past, thinking they would do just fine with their small family plots and their 'art', but if not for two things they would be poorer than the dirt they stand on.
