My definition does have some gray areas (like auto racing, which does require athleticism and physical endurance and does involve interfering with other racers, but relies very heavily on mechanical equipment), but no one else need use it.

I don't remember if they had powerlifting or just weightlifting, but that was one where the boys beating the women's records were actually older than average.
For most sports the boy's records beat the women's record at about 14-15 years old. Some it was by 13. I don't recall if there were any as low as 12, although they did show the 12-year-olds' records in the table.
