I think it's just his mischievous style of delivery sometimes. Instead of telling you outright, he'll plant the idea in your head like a seed, so you arrive at what he's saying on your own. If the thought feels like it comes from your own mind, it resonates that much more.
Mostly this, Rush is a great communicator because he uses a little bit of flair and showmanship to make a point. The notion that political speech is censored in this country should be in anathema to everyone!!
