Can't shoot over property in NC. If you wake up to someone stealing your tv and they are threatening you, you can't shoot. That's why you never aim to injure.

In NC if you can articulate that you felt that you were in danger of being seriously injured or losing your life, you can shoot. Someone entering your home by force in the middle of the night definitely meets that criteria.

If they're in your house you can shoot them. In NC, you can shoot as soon as they even attempt to make unauthorized entry into your home.

Don't have to wait for them to breach.
