Barabbas was a cop killer, so to speak - that's why they respected him.

I always knew there was a similarity between Roman soldiers and modern day police.

This was the reading I landed on tonight.

Except the part about a crowd.

In our case, it is as if the crowd chose Jesus, but the chief priests overruled their choice and told Pilate to release Barabbas instead.

I’d imagine that the priests stuffed the crowd with supporters who hated Jesus and that followers of Jesus were scared to speak up just like Peter was.

I like this comparison. Next time I encounter a:

Reeeeee gas prices and ladies sports reeeeee

I will respond: “What’s your problem, you voted for Barabbas?”

Both Clinton and Biden never should have been fronted as candidates. The Democrats have serious problems in their ability to provide candidates. For one reason or another they are selecting the worst candidates to be president.

If Trump was really so bad they wouldn't have anything to complain about, they would simply ignore him because surely it's easier for them to front a candidate better than Hitler?

I think the Republicans have some problems as well fronting candidates, if you examine the system there is a problem with stagnation. When political success seems to almost be inherited with an increasingly dynastic system. People holding office for ages and ages despite being awful.

There are all kinds of problems in general with the US election system though Trump is a bit of a hailmary for the Republicans being a real new candidate bringing new blood to the stagnant pool and no doubt made waves but also had the crocodiles circling.

Trump was a good candidate and way too good for the Democrats to match with the candidates their complacency made available. They can't campaign on the merits of Clinton and Biden very heavily because there's not much to go on.

Instead to try to give either of their candidates a chance required a massive disproportionate hate campaign against Trump, smears, character assassination, etc to make him look at bad as possible to the effect that many stupid people end up convinced that anything would be better than Trump.

This is an incredibly dangerous situation to create. If you stop to think about it they raise the bar so high to let any candidate they present pass through that Hitler really could walk in the door and people wouldn't notice.

I feel real pity for our friends and family deceived by the MSM and social media. If I hadn't been paying attention to my gut feeling or hadn't a traditional Christian faith to ground me, I could very well have been swept along with the currents too.

It's a miracle that any of us are here, given how seemingly omnipresent the media lies are. But no one can truly be happy believing those things - I wager that it's far easier to find happy, well-adjusted Trump supporters than it is to find happy, well-adjusted Democrats.

I'm usually just not into politics, only being an individual, pursuing what I want in life, not easily taking sides or getting involved. The effect is relatively obvious to me.

If you look at a lot of the prominent intellectuals coming out against the left quite a lot of them come from a centrist or somewhat leftist background. All of them are the types that the left would normally try to bring in on their side and select for.

If there are well adjusted Democrats many will simple stop becoming Democrats and become Republicans. The effect is brain drain and purge of intellectuals.

I've never been a Democrat or a Republican but it's plain to see that if you are well adjusted you increasingly can't be a Democrat. Those that are might as well be captives or under occupation from the far left.

Yea, no.

Trump is not Christ.

This is cringe on 11.

You are mistaken. The same Jesus whose honour you’re defending said, “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives the One who sent Me.” (Matthew 10:40) The way one treats an agent of Christ is the way one treats Christ Himself.

It makes no difference; if it was Billy Graham, Ronald Reagan or Pope John Paul II standing for these things instead of Trump, the principle would still apply. God will use whoever is willing to be used by Him.

Yeah, except in that situation Barrabas ACTUALLY HAD THE SUPPORT OF THE CROWD. Jesus did not.

It would be a better analogy if Barrabas had cheated

The powers-that-be in the USA thought they could act like king Rehoboam in 1 Kings 12:1-17. Like them, he arrogantly ignored the wishes of his people and imposed the will of foolish advisors on them.

Evil does not exist in the realm of logic. It is a chaotic power that wants to destroy everything in its path. Donald Trump is definitely nowhere close to Holy and Righteous just like the rest of us but I do see the resemblance. 🤔

ShofarSoGood [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

We are voting for agendas here, not just people. Trump's agenda is more righteous than he is; while Biden's agenda is far more wicked than he is.

The difference is the people chose Trump and were ignored.
