From everything I have read, Roberts has expressed the opinion that he does not want to Preside over a second trial. Jonathan Turley has expressed the opinion (so has Alan Dershowitz) that the sole purpose of impeachment is to remove elected government officials from office. President Trump is no longer in office.

The Democrats are using impeachment as a political tool for the sole purpose of preventing Trump from running for office again. I hope his lawyers use this as part of his defense. I hope they go back to the Russia hoax where the intelligence community was weaponized to initially to distract from Hillary's email scandal and server and ultimately used to try to remove him via the Mueller report. When that did not work, they took a phone call Trump had with the head of the Ukraine (which should never have been made public) and used that to impeach Trump.

There is so much evidence of a personal vendetta and animus against this President by the Democrat party (including Nancy Pelosi ripping up Trump's speech that included his accomplishments).
