Minor point—it’s mostly Central Americans and Mexicans (North Americans) that come in illegally. Besides overstaying tourist visas etc South America is not nearly as much of a problem. It isn’t connected to Central and North America by overland routes because of the Darien Gap so there couldn’t be a “migrant caravan” from there. The rest of what you said is spot on, just wanted to call this out because “know thy enemy” etc. etc.
