For those that don't know, Taiwan has an island in the South China Sea that is exactly here: 20.703476, 116.720493
It has long been assumed that China would start things off by taking this island as well as the two Taiwanese islands that are just off its coast here: 24.444621, 118.345952
Taiwan would basically have no chance of successfully defending those islands, and their attempts to do so would naturally be used to gin up support/pretext for invading Taiwan proper.
