its low hanging fruit, with the primary purpose of misinforming and shaping a viewers perspective, with attempt at humor to help them not notice.

when your joke is based on straight lies but ur soapboxing, the folks who know otherwise wont find it funny. That is different than exaggeration and telling fiction, and do absurd shit. because it clicks to the audience at some point "OOOOOH HES DOIN A BIT I GET IT"

but this, its no bit, he genuinely is asserting these lies and he wants you to agree.

i cant even express how much this man is an enemy to comedy
