I think the Obama administration weakly claimed it was Iran's money that had been seized many years earlier for legal reparations owed US victims after the Iranian government takeover of US business' property after the Shah fell. But it was always very vague and never backed up with solid evidence that I'm aware.

No. Impeachment was meant to remove a bad president from office, nothing more. That's why Richard Nixon's resignation ended his impeachment trial; because the impeachment was moot after he left office.
