Go shoot several types and calibers and see what fits your hand and points naturally to the eye FOR YOU. The question of "what handgun should I buy" is so subjective it should be rhetorical. Now many of us can probably tell you what handguns/brands to stay away from but even that's a slippery slope.
I have a glock 21. Its 45acp. Its nice. Get at least a 45 caliber gun. 9mm wont stop them quick enough. Commies have no souls, so you need the extra power from the 45 to send them back to the pits of hell.
Oh that's a real thing but there's other considerations such as size, capacity, recoil etc Whatever OP gets, torture that sword. Doesn't matter what the F you buy if you can't shoot it accurately. Typically people have a hard time being "naturals" with handguns
9mm and 45 pretty much both serve the same purpose. That said, most calibers below 9mm don't pack enough punch for my liking.
I'm short on cash, but ideally I'll also pick up a 40-45 pistol too. I first gotta get a rifle though. Who knows? Maybe I'll go with a 45 first. Haven't made up my mind yet lol.
If you want to have fun sometimes, I say CZ. FN and Sig are good too. Just make sure anything Sig isn't first gen (I don't know all their current offerings).
Personally I don't like them but it's what you shoot best with. Stay away from the real cheap stuff if you can. Hit some friends up or local range where you can shoot many and make your decision.
Personal favorites or mine for different reasons.
Glock 19, HK VP9, Sig P226/P229
If it says traitor killer on it, get it.
I’m in the market for my first handgun too...so I’ll be monitoring your post...lol

No reason to go under 9mm these days IMO. They come in so many sizes. But either way I'd take a .22 over nothing.
If you want something boring but reliable, Glock.

Berretta 92s are good. Buy a 9mm if you can. Depends on how much money you want to spend.
If you are lazy and don't want to ever take care of it, buy a Glock 19 (Gen 3, 4 or 5).
If you want a good gun that you can learn about and work on, buy a sig P320. Military and police use them so parts will always be around.
If you get a shotgun, get a Siaga 12 or something similar, fast firing and large magazine/drums.
what you gonna use it for home defense cc what range hunting etc
Home defense.
i keep a shotgun for home defense and a P22 as my everyday carry i know its small but very light easy to use and clean very discreet very smooth gun
