As one of the old reddit mods, he bought the domain but he didn't code the actual website. Domain is separate from hosting. So he didn't have access to the databases etc.
We're both arguing semantics so it's weird for you to say I'm being pedantic, but whatever. I say you can't hijack something if you own it and you're saying yes you can because the "spirit of the domain" has been hijacked. That makes no sense, the content was just moved because the people who moved it don't own the previous domain. This is the part that I don't get that you don't understand. You agree he owns the domain.
I get the gist of what happened. I'm here basically every day. I simply don't see the big deal other than sour grapes.
Instead of talking down to me and accusing me of being "a shill," why not take the time to explain what it is that I'm supposed to be outraged about? Otherwise, maybe we are wasting our time with the back and forth. You haven't illuminated what your position is in any way whatsoever.
Let's look at the sequence of events. One of the mods of this website wanted to start doing media, but that was not allowed for mods. So he stopped being a mod, and doxxed himself for some reason. He held onto the domain name.
Then he shut off the domain redirect overnight, and a few days later makes it into a letter blaming his former mod mates for doing what he did to himself. And promoting his shitty new business venture.
Get it yet? The mods all obviously had some sort of gentlemen's agreement in place. One person had the domain, another did the coding, hosting, etc.

He still owns it, therefore he cannot hijack it. End of story.
