I did that at Walmart last year when they wanted to stop selling 9mm 556 etc and put it on clearance (7 to 15 cents per round). The cart’s wheels went all gimpy trying to get it out of there. I tipped the guy at the checkout a box of Federal 556.
My grandfather bought up a huge amount of sugar just before WW2. He used it in later years to trade coupons that the family needed and also for handyman work on his property. The sugar was traded for a marble sidewalk and patio in the backyard... a guy had a lot of slabs of that sitting around and did a deal for a good supply of sugar.
On the topic of ammo...can a fellow pede help me out? New gun owner here, central TX area. Finally decided to get serious about prepping and getting ready for SHTF.
Got a Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 last week. Does any 9mm ammo work for it? Planning to start going to the range and taking classes, but you have to bring your own ammo and I don't have any.
I'd like to take advantage of anything I can find but don't want to end up with something that won't work.
You might need to go to some small towns in rural Texas. We found 15 boxes for the 2 ARs after going to several stores, and bought them all. We had to get to a small town to find it at a little country store. Pistol ammo wasn't as much of a problem for a .380 but 9mm was hard to find and we only got a small amount... not enough to go practice with. This was around the Hico area and a little south. It might take you all day to round up what you want. This cost me more than $500.

Sometimes I feel bad that I’m Hoarding , but then I come to my senses !
If you look at it long enough, it won't seem like enough...and then it makes me feel better.
Somebody has to run the armory when shit goes South.
Yes sir, I want all the ammo and all guns that take them. How will I pay for them? Don't worry about it.
Sorry Pepe, 2 box limit.
Save some for the rest of us! How can we fight otherwise?

Anything 9x19 otherwise known as 9mm Luger will work.
Just watch out for 9x18 makarov, but you likely won’t find any of that anywhere either.
Awesome, thanks for the help!
