Its simple- give "the people" (in this case the media and the dems) a common enemy. By degrading us to lesser-humans, it grants them the permission to push degrading laws. An example is the rumors from distant shadows about a miles tax (NOT a gas tax, a tax based on the odometer ticking away.) I hear that we may get taxed based on our odometer, which targets rural America- the safest America, and forces us to the hellhole cities, most likely for his "Green New Deal." Be vigilant, but be peaceful as Trump said.

The thing about the mileage tax is, every gallon of gas already has almost a dollar of taxes, in some states even more. So for every 25ish miles of gas, you are already paying 1 dollar in taxes. More Driving=More gas taxes.
To add another layer of taxes on top of that instead of simply rasing the gas tax by 5 cents has no purpose other than to intrude on your privacy and make you guilty of racking up higher miles - something that is imperative for a many middle class fsuburban family to have a decent job.
