Android can block calls for you. Hold down on top of their contact and hit block.
That doesn't actually block the texts. It just sends them to spam, and sometimes I can't resist the urge to check.

Add the text app Textra. You can block in that app by long pressing the offending text and selecting 'add to blocklist'
