I’m a dj so not much I can offer without actually being able to work. My local officials can’t seem to get that through their heads. I lose $1300 a month every month I’m not able to work. I have a day job working for the county but my pay doesn’t cover my payments on the brand new equipment I purchased right before the pandemic hit. During the first shutdown, I moved out of the house I was renovating and stayed with my parents. Not living in the house nor spending any money on it saved me through the first shutdown which ended in July. August-November I was back to making good money but also had to dump a lot more back into my business to be able to do a few large gigs. That left me with more debt but I never in my life could have foreseen what was about to happen. Around thanksgiving the cases were rising rapidly and I figured we would just have a month or two period where they would shut down pretty much everything again. Nope, the city just banned karaoke and live music even under blue county status which is like a few cases of covid in the entire county in one week. So basically, it’s looking like June-August before they’ll allow me to run karaoke again. Large gatherings such as weddings will still be limited by 50% or more so I expect a lot of those to get canceled like last year. I’ve been limping along on a few thousand I got from my overtime payout at the end of the year, the $600 stimulus and my minuscule single male tax return I’ll get in a few weeks. I figure I’ll make it to the end of March and I’ll have to sell everything I still owe on for half price - if anyone is even dumb enough to buy gear they won’t be able to use. So basically I’ll get ran out of business and some schmuck that never got their finances fucked by the pandemic will buy my stuff and bank off of it since they didn’t have to pay full price for immaculate equipment. Then I get to continue to pay on the gear I don’t own anymore while a few months later someone else gets to enjoy it.
Any business we can support here without being local? We’d love to help!
