Ironically, I'm typing this from a smartphone but my point stands: PC culture (and its proliferation through 24/7/365 information dissemination and overload thanks to social media) were the catalysts to our current clown world.
Even as recently as the mid-late 00s people could take a fucking joke...and everyone wasn't sectioned off into their little identity corners of perpetual offense and victimhood. Thankfully, it's also given rise to independent media. Lord knows we need it to expose truth and provide a voice of reason.
I've been consuming almost all my entertainment from 15-30 years ago. In my younger years I never understood why people listened to the "oldies" or watched classic TV and movies. Now I do.
How nice it was to see a show without a race baiting plot, or a trans hero (and/or victim). Now even the most innocuous thing is politicized and has an agenda.
Take me back...if I had a time machine to go back and undo the invention of the smartphone, I would.
With a dash of the circus thrown in for good measure!
I’ve been doing the same. I live on the Pluto TV app’s classic channels. Totally agree with you except I actually had to change the channel from Family Ties the other night because one episode centered around teen pregnancy. That really didn’t bother me as much as the next episode that centered around the Keatons deciding to have a gun in the home for self-defense, but in the end after tensions were high about it, deciding that there’s no need for them to have a gun stored in the home because their feelings of feeling unsafe by their own gun was far greater risk than a home intrusion. This brought me to the conclusion that the left has been playing the long con in normalizing the sexualization of children, fear, and constitutional right controversy.
They've been pushing their agenda for 6 decades. This election was the culmination of their efforts.
