I looked into this. Seems MeWe never intended to be a free speech platform lol still going to be heavily moderated, but only “slightly” more lax than twitter. NPR did an article with the CEO of anyone cares to read that propaganda. I’m not signing up lol

Look at the owners, investors and who they’re affiliated with and you’ll quickly see they’re not on our side.

I stopped using MeWe because they have sooo many trolls This was obviously a reaction to someone complaining.
If you read their about page ( https://mewe.com/about ) you will find no mention of the word 'free', 'freedom', 'censorship' or 'speech'. Their selling point is related to having no ads, not selling your personal data, and advocating privacy.
It rather raises the question of how they plan to make money. There are some paid subscriptions to get more advanced features like free calling, more storage, customised themes.
It was out right after Jan 6. They are probably scared to be shut down like Parler if not.
People should have known instantly that anything calling itself "MeWe" was never gonna be based.
