How are all these companies so impotent that they can't just make a commercial where they just show the product being great without any political shit at all.

Worse than that - it literally violates the fiduciary responsibility to shareholders by deliberately self sabotaging themselves. A consumer company once positioned in the marketplace isn't meant to take sides (if it hasn't previously done so before) because it literally changes the investment vehicle mid-stream.
If you're looking to exclude half of your customers on a whim - you're essentially in FTC / SEC violation.
