This guy has been one of my closest friends for a decade, we met in college and have been inseparable ever since. He started dating a liberal white woman about 3 years ago, she was always pleasant to me, but definitely a flaming lefty. Anyways fast forward, now they are engaged and I was slated to be a groomsman at the wedding later this year.
Since the election, the fiance has been engaging me about politics on social media. I don't post much political stuff, occasionally gripe about COVID and masks, and she always feels the need to respond with some condescending quip. Fine, I don't care, I'll be civil, you're my best friends' fiance. Well she kept it up, (never once did I start a convo with her) and called the people in the Capitol in DC "terrorists" which I took offense to because I was there and didn't commit any crimes. So I mentioned the reason we have a 2A and since she was born in Canada I shot back, "I know Canada is a second rate country and maybe they don't teach freedom up there." I guess that offended her so much that she made my friend call me and uninvite me to the wedding. Good riddance I guess, too bad it had to be that way.

Canadians they think they’re superior
Am Canadapede, can confirm that 'those crazy Americans with their guns down there' is a Canadian thing.
Maybe I should have called her a Canadian supremacist, lol. She would always try to lecture me on American politics and she’s a basic bitch who listens to NPR and watches SNL
Canadians don't even realize how much better life could be. My dad raised me center-right and I've always stood out from the people around me because they're so ignorant and milquetoast on anything outside of their personal bubble.
You've got some very intelligent Canadians but the general population gets their news from State-run media and that's where 'the real news' comes from.
My dad lives in Mexico. the only Cable you can get is Sky. Canadian programming is crazy.
Wouldn't know, haven't watched TV in about a decade! Got sick of commercials, and especially now there's a Kung Flu commercial every third one.
With that maudlin piano music.
Yeah... the entire national identity is measured against the US and people convincing themselves they are superior. I work in healthcare in Ontario and everyone is so smug. Where I use to work in the US we would get patients from all over the world, including Canadians who would rather pay cash than wait till their condition causes them to deteriorate to where they can get on the waitlist. No one who has a choice comes to Canada for healthcare.
They do not. My best friend died early last year after a 7 year battle with cancer. Canadian healthcare is rigid and inflexible. He wanted to go down to USA for treatment but the government told him he would lose any cancer coverage he had in Canada as a result.
They wore him down with chemo for 7 years and instead of modifying the process they forged on 'by the book' until he was no more.
He was my only Trump-supporting friend, too.
This.
