Lucky me, because I lived there many years. But its not about mind control. Its about actual pysical control. If you are a large miner, the CCP knows about it. Even if you are a small miner, they likely know it. And if the CCP tells you to do X, you do it. You don't ask questions. There are no courts to complain to. There is no police to call. You don't follow, police will just come and take all your shit and throw you in jail for a decade or so. No trial needed. People have no idea what total power actually means.
The entire point of bitcoin is to keep your money out of the hands of a tyrannical government. Most people on here (including myself) have enough historical knowledge to understand how communist dictatorships operate. China isn't treading any new ground on that front. Bitcoin is specifically meant to make physical seizure impossible. Hence, why it's so popular in China.
Also, I think you're greatly over estimating China's ability to "know exactly" who is doing all the mining. Our own government doesn't know who owns bitcoin, which is why they've been panicking over how to regulate it for years now.
