I think DJT had zero trust in Pence. Those who say shit like "they were inseparable" or "they were on the same page" are overlooking that Trump would keep friends close and enemies closer.
I think it was to show all the Reps and sens who were already supporting or on the fence about supporting the challenge of the EC votes how much support was actually out there.

So there would be clear evidence of a FF and that he could NOT have incited that crowd to riot at the Capitol.
