that's really what it has to be, not a "new party" but a tear down and rebuild of the Republican Party. any 3rd party will just fracture the vote. Older folks not wanting to trust a 3rd party, not expecting it to amount to anything and will stay Republican while younger people "in the know" will migrate to the 3rd party...the Democrats stay their Stalin-esque selves and just get more extreme left but remain one party. They will no split off into "progressive", "socialist", "mainstream Democrat" and "virtue signalers".
The problem is that you're not going to get some 70 million people who all voted Trump to follow him to a 3rd party. No one wants an unknown, which is the same reason trying to "primary" entrenched RINOs who have had their seat for decades won't work. The OG voters aren't going to give up on what they know, even if they don't like a lot of what the RINO does, they still know who that person is...they don't immediately trust a newcomer, plus the RINO has party connections, PACs and donors the newbie won't have. Unfortunately you CAN'T win most races without war chests of money. Big donors bring money for campaigns to reach more people, more events, and more propaganda. Money brings endorsements and unfortunately most people outside here don't think critically, they just vote for who the endorsers say to.
