I don't know what state you're in but the standard in some places is that you can only draw to prevent the commission of a "forcible felony." In the past the police may have used more discretion. It sucks but don't pull a gun unless you are in fear for your life. Not the first time this has happened and won't be the last.

In florida it's a citizens arrest. He did the right thing.
