As far as I'm concerned we reached that point in 1993 when AOL unleashed the masses. It has only gotten more pronounced since.

I suppose it works along the same lines as that old joke about there only being so many IQ points available to spread around the world...didn't that joke came out when the world only had 4 billion people.
