Kid literally brought up the topic, pretty sure he liked talking about it until he started getting dunked on by facts.
Same shit happened when I dunked on some lefty chick who I know. Immediately said "I don't want to get into this with you" AKA "you clearly are more well read on the topic but my feelings are more important than your facts".

100% every liberal I know is holier than thou with the biggest know it all attitudes I’ve ever met. I can be the same way, except I just present facts and statistics and say “this is the basis for my opinion”. Liberals don’t actually debate or consider ANYTHING you have to say. I was arguing with a guy I know on FB about censoring Trump and I asked him why it’s OK for the ayatollah of Iran to call for genocide on Twitter and FB, but Trump is banned. He said that it was because if they banned the ayatollah they would block FB/Twitter in Iran and then said “as someone who supposedly cares about sovereignty I think you’d care about that” and I lost my shit. Told him I don’t give a fuck about whether terrorist dictators ban FB in Iran, I care about the people that are suffering under these regimes. This argument was the pretext to deleting all my social media last week lol

Yup. Drill them down until they finally give up and say they don't know much about it. Then ask them what made them so passionate about it and if it could be they are sheep regurgitating talking points from their media overlords.
Don't let them change subjects or divert or you'll be there all night.
Those are the situations that get me in trouble because I push back on them when they abandon their arguments on it. I don't let it go. I will force it back on them and make them come to terms with it. Discussions then ALWAYS go in one of two ways, either they will try to move the goal posts and change the argument or they will get upset and cry about how mean you are. In either case, the response is the same. Don't let them change the argument and don't give a shit if they get upset you are holding them accountable for their statements.
