You can do both. Have a group of people called the "Patriot Party Candidates", but for the purposes of ballot access and avoiding 3-way races, have them run as Republicans.

There won't be a third party, because about the best it could do is what the Bull Moose Party did in 1912...and ONLY at the Presidential level. The enormous amount of infrastructure and even larger costs would take years and years to build out. Good for the President. Lead the charge on ridding the Repubs of the loser Bush Surrender Caucus!

CaucasuanCurmudgeon,

I would have agreed with you until quite recently.

The difference now is the coalition of Dems and GOP who committed to MAGA.

Not since the "Reagan Democrats" have we seen so many Dems support a non Dem candidate. Now, after the wholesale betrayal by the GOP WeThePeople are 'eyes wide open'.

I was GOP party insider. I know costs and "infrustracture" realities. The reality is that the costs and their grift are a huge liability for them. And, the infrastructer is largely managed by cities and states. E.g., the parties haven't paid for elections in so many years it's hard to even reember when it was party funded.

Corporate $ is being denied to GOP because of MAGA link. So, with no corporate $, if the rank in file deny them $, their costs and grift continue, with no revenue inflow. Now, start primarying their candidates and they will collapse under the weight of it all.

The biggest difference now is the 75,000,000 #. 75M supporters from both sides of the aisle (give Biden 3 months and I'll be that # will be more like 85,000,000) align with MAGA principles. Just imagine if each of the 75M gave $10 to a new party that is fully committed to MAGA principles?

There'd be nothing stopping it. And, the GOP and DNC both know it and are scare poopless!

Thanks for the reply. Good insight. Color me a little skeptical still, but if the President decides that's the way to go, I'm all on board!

You could do a "patriot caucus" within the Republican party

That won't stop the Patriot Party.

Correct answer. The Trump Populist movement must be separate from the GOP/Republican party. Too many hide behind that banner only to turn later. The media uses it as an “I told ya so”. Most importantly, any migration should be the Republicans moving to our party, in no way should we go begging to them.
