So sorry, pede. I’m a little riled up at having seen 2 accounts go in deep to bait people, & that’s only in the last hour.

I’m all for COS, but would love for everyone to talk about every single thing imaginable that could possibly happen, first and foremost.

To my understanding, it can’t go wrong.

But these past 4 years have been way outside what I thought was possible, & that’s what worries me.

Look, if 38 state legislatures were just going to say "fuck it, let's burn the whole thing down", what is stopping them now?

Absolutely nothing.

The thing is, the swamp is deep. Yes, we know. Some of us have known for decades. That's why this movement started before Trump. And I believe he will eventually join us in finishing it. He has spoken of his support in the past, which was the moment I knew he'd win Mark Levine over. And he did.

Still, in most cases state legislatures are less swampy. Partially because they're closer to the people they represent. And often, even if they are total morons, they will at least hear their constituents out. You see efforts in Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and you realize...hey, they may be tripping over themselves, but these guys are actually trying.

If there's one thing December taught me, it's that these state legislature guys are absolutely shocked at the idea that they might have power over something nationwide. CoS or not, eyes are now on them like eagles, demanding some sort of action. And they will respond. They're genuinely nervous, mind you, but they will respond.

That's why I believe we should be lighting up their emails and phones with supportive calls and letters.
