The "scholars" at r/AskHistorians, whose primary expertise is rabid ejaculations of leftism, have unleashed their mentally ill compulsions in an unhinged thread about the 1776 Commission Report that was produced by the Trump Administration.
I believe the conflict you will see between the Report itself and the r/AskHistorians thread lies at the foundation of the cultural and political war in which we now find ourselves. The reaction by these "historians" to a report that gently affirms patriotism and common values is so outrageous and sickening that it demands explanation. I believe the explanation is that the Report landed a direct hit on its target, which was the philosophy and history behind the New York Times's 1619 project.
We all enjoy memeing the Left, and the memes are a vital part of a centipede's diet. But if you want a deep insight into the root of our conflict with the enemies of civilization, a perfect opportunity for such study has presented itself at r/AskHistorians.
If I had to guess which section of the report most violently triggered these people, I would say it is this:
By their very nature, families are the first educators, teaching children how to treat others with respect, make wise decisions, exercise patience, think for themselves, and steadfastly guard their God-given liberties. It is good mothers and fathers, above all others, who form good people and good citizens.
This is why America’s founding fathers often echoed the great Roman statesman Cicero in referring to the family as the “seminary of the republic.” They understood that the habits and morals shaped in the home determine the character of our communities and the ultimate fate of our country.
When children see their mother and father hard at work, they learn the dignity of labor and the reward of self-discipline. When adults speak out against dangerous doctrines that threaten our freedoms and values, children learn the time-tested concept of free expression and the courageous spirit of American independence. When parents serve a neighbor in need, they model charity and prove that every human being has inherent worth. And when families pray together, they acknowledge together the providence of the Almighty God who gave them their sacred liberty.
For the American republic to endure, families must remain strong and reclaim their duty to raise up morally responsible citizens who love America and embrace the gifts and responsibilities of freedom and self government.
The opponents of these views have embraced a nihilistic and dyscivic philosophy. Their power and influence produce only chaos and destruction. They conceive destructive ideas in their twisted ivory towers, dispense them in bright and gullible young college students, and once these ideas have grown in the womb of society, they give birth to death.
The heart of this conflict is family and faith, that which we most cherish and that which they most eagerly strive to destroy.
