Unconstitutional. The constitution clearly states that the Chief Justice must preside over presidential impeachments, which is probably why Roberts isn't going to do it.

He knows that it is unconstitutional to attempt to impeach a President after he has left office.

Wouldn’t team trump send in one person then and for the opening point out how unconstitutional the whole thing is closing with no Chief Justice there is no case. Then peace out raising the deuces?

No Roberts, no trial, no trial outcome, no Constitutional conclusion to the impeachment, no more work for the Senate until done. They cannot move on without Roberts. They cannot move on without a Constitutional conclusion.

Roberts might want to recuse himself because of the evidence that will be presented. It would also force him inside the box (so to speak).

Democrats know it's a sham, just like everything else they did the entire 4 years he was in office, but that didn't stop them from running with it anyway because they know millions of low information morons will just read a headline and believe "HerP dErp 2 peAcH MinTs!"
