There's a thought experiment about an Artificial Intelligence that is considered broadly harmless called: a Paperclip Maximizer. Its job: make as many paperclips as it can. To cut the story short, while this seems a harmless endeavor relative to human civilization, it isn't impossible that this Dumb but very highly focused Artificial Intelligence could consume the whole of the earth, mankind, and the entire solar system in the endeavor to produce more paperclips. More disturbing to some of us today is we believe Social Media has created no fewer than FIVE 'Click Maximizer Algorithms', all of whom share the same directive: produce more clicks that can be tied to monetized advertisements. The problem: the fastest item they zeroed in on was that Angry people click in the ways that get to ads more. And the ANGRIER they are, the more they click. Run that for about ten years and no wonder why our political discourse is so toxic. Something must be done about these algorithms. I don't know the best solution but they clearly aren't being fed the appropriate negative stimulus.

At least 1/3 of those are used to try to pop open malfunctioning disk drives, or keep small chip bags closed.

If you want them angry, I can make them angry. Hey! You voted for a kid fucker!

......

Seriously though, I get what you are saying. We are all manipulated in some manner. Pros are hired to manipulate you into buying shit. Now AI's are being trained to do it. What a person needs to do is develop a set of core values and integrity. Also human to human communication. There is no pat answer, however. What amazes me is that people have been convinced that conformity is somehow "resistance".

I have about four layers of adblockers and scriptblockers running. I haven't seen an ad beyond my phone for five years.

Anyway, people do tend to get a little pissed off when the minority version of the triple k collude with media, the deep state and China to cheat elections, and eviscerate the Bill of Rights. Anger is a pretty reasonable response to communist insurrection.

Interesting take. Click AI is gray goo. That's the most concise allegory to make me second-guess even joining sites like gab or parlor.
