I've been wondering about this lately. Was the FBI ever good? Hoover was head of it when it was founded and led it for half a century or so. Seems like the FBI has always been a piece of shit extortion operation...

Hoover used it to black mail (secret files on anyone and everyone of prominence), but that was after a couple of years of starting. So basically it's been shit just shortly after inception
