Everyone knows it's fake, they don't care because it's entertainment. The stories are cheesy and there's some insane stunts. People legitimately get hurt doing them, too, so while the competition is fake, the action sort of isn't.
I'm not a huge fan but I am more accepting of WWE fans after I realized this, and strangely there's a lot of MMA fans who like WWE.
