Technically, you're right. In some respects it's a fictional interest group, much like the "Hispanics" (many of whom ARE white). However, if you think the somewhat arbitrary nature of the social group somehow protects it, or that maybe somewhat arbitrary social constructs don't deserve or need protection against a very real threat, then I hate to break it to you, but you've got another thing coming. Likewise, if you doubt the historical ethnicities that are commonly thought of as white are exempt from the danger, just look at, oh, any country in western Europe for hard evidence to the contrary.

You're right though, no matter how pure of heart or racially uninterested, whites have been and will continue to be the target of racial attacks all the same. It's not racist for any people to unite against a common enemy.
In fact, it's not a virtue to ignore your enemies to the peril of your family and your way of life, it's cowardice.
