I've done this math before. The oldest boomers are 75 years old and life expectancy is 79, with a standard deviation of 15 years. There are 71 million boomers alive right now. Nearly all will be dead in 19 years, or by 2040. That's a flat average of 3.7 million boomer deaths each year. Boomer deaths are on the upswing now and will peak in 2025.

My prediction: lots of reverse mortgages. Boomers are the largest landowners (nearly 80%) while only being about 1/5th of the population. They've been selling too each other for decades and pricing out new buyers. This comes to a head within 4-8 years and the government decides whether to auction it all back to the people or become the biggest property management company in the world.
