I can't remember where I heard this, maybe it was a comment here, but someone said another virologist laughed when they said he was "the best virologist" in the country because if he were a good virologist he'd be working in the private sector making 6 million a year. It's like the adage those who can, do; those who can't, teach, except those who can't just go into politics.
