I had this happen to me many years ago and only for 5 years. I knew the whole time that she was, er, "fragile," but she "needed me" gosh darn it! Her friends weren't good people. She'd make new ones and I'd never understand why she couldn't make a geniune one. So I mocked them. Then one day that's that.
You will heal. It will be a tough year. And hopefully you will make a list of the things that you really want in a soulmate and then stick to those.
