This is not an impeachment trial. It's a Hollywood skit being acted out.

The Constitution says impeachment is for active Presidents. The Constitution says it's presided over by the chief justice. Therefore, it's not an impeachment trial.

Trump should literally just mock and ignore it. If he defends himself, he gives legitimacy to it.
