I have a friend at school that is not really political, but I can tell she's leaning liberal, and she's a bit of a feminist, and she doesn't like Trump at all. When we got talking about politics I put this argument forward: Me: "Ok, so let me ask you this: lets say you get a job, and you work for a while and then it comes time for you to get a chance at promotion. Do you want the fact that you're female to have anything to do with the decision for you to become promoted?"

She: "No, that shouldn't have anything to do with it."

Me: "You sure? You only want to be promoted based on merit?"

She: "Yes, only merit."

Me: "How strongly do you feel that way? Like 80% or 100%?"

She: "100%"

Me: "Ok, you're not a liberal then. You're a real feminist then, not a fake one."

...and conversation continues. It's not enough to completely change her mind, but this plants the seed and creates a bit of a firewall. In the future when confronted with identity politics, or equity nonsense, hopefully she will have remembered this conversation and reacts appropriately. What do you think?
