Someone should tell OP that Android is owned by Google. This sounds nice in theory (and most of this is doable) but we need face the fact that we will be unable to completely remove all these companies from our lives. Apple and Google are the only two mobile operating system companies in existence that aren't literally funded by the CCP (yes I'm looking at you Huawei)

Edit: here's an article about the Google/Apple alternative called OxygenOS (aka HydrogenOS) https://www.androidauthority.com/oneplus-hydrogen-os-11-1146602/

What I'm saying is that Google owns the entire Android Operating System; yes, it's open source, but it's developed and maintained primarily by Google developers.

Lineage OS is not an alternative to Android, it is based off of it

Are there any UNIX based mobile operating systems that aren't Android?

perhaps some techies can comment, but my understanding with cell phones is, worrying about the OS for privacy is akin to worrying about votes on a dominion machine. every's phone's baseband is closed source and is most likely the first means of reading everything on your phone, it does not matter what OS you run

If patriots.win was based off of Reddit, then yes patriots.win IS Reddit.

A codebase as mature as Android (and Reddit) will easily have 100,000+ source code files. Just because Google (and Reddit) are no longer modifying the codebase doesn't mean all of their features have been removed once the code has been forked.

It is very possible that there are legacy features within LineageOS that still contact Google servers.

You should do research before spouting nonsense. LineageOS's souce code includes a number of references to Google including:

  • Extensive use of Google's protobuff utility
  • Annotations that Google developers own whole modules of the system
  • References to "use_google_mail"

Specific examples of use of Google services:

  • core/java/andriod/content/Intent.java (line 1366) - the Android system performs text searches through the Google search engine
  • core/java/android/content/ContentResolver.java (line 2967) - a TODO statement recognizing the need to remove references to Google (a TODO is a coding practice of documenting tasks that still need to be completed)

This is all from a cursory evaluation of the OS. I'm not saying that LineageOS is bad, but it's not the answer to a Google-free lifestyle #checkmate

Edit: you can downvote me all you'd like but it doesn't change the fact that you're full of shit #getwrekd

Is Ubuntu touch still a thing?

Looking at their list of supported phones, I'd say "no".

Not so fast--- Visit: https://e.foundation/

They've de-googled android and replaced the integrated apps with benign non-google forms.

I'm planning on buying one after I get my protonmail set up. (I'm not going to cuckify a clean android with a gmail address!)

That's pretty interesting. I'll have to look more into the company and this e-phone they're selling but it sounds just like what we're looking for

I haven't tried to order yet. If they don't deliver to US (prices are in Euros), I was just going to order a refurbished phone here, and then follow their install steps. (I want the S9+ too) I use an iPhone for work and my personal is an android, so I'll be able to put both sims in the new phone and say screw u too both Apple and Google.

I looked the interwebs over and switched to this about 4 years ago. Best decision I've ever made (other than being a christian) https://www.phonearena.com/phones/ZTE-Cymbal-Z-320_id10426

I’m looking at LineageOS compatible phones to dump my iPhone 6 (lol) for. The internet privacy guy has some good videos endorsing it. It may be worth a try since a compatible moto g7 is like $130.
