So the agent’s main line of questioning is, “why is this concerning to you”? Um... why would it NOT be concerning to anyone? Especially criminal investigators? How IS that investigation going, by the way? -Crickets-

Devil's advocate: If the guy was a witness, then wouldn't getting a formal statement directly from him about why this is concerning be valuable in court later, vs the agent jumping to that conclusion on the record?

We know that isn't how this turned out, and that this particular agent is a scumbag, but would an honest law enforcement officer not ask that exact question as a matter of procedure?
