Heres what needs to stop: assuming that an agency set up BY DC was ever intended to truly investigate DC. Its intended to go after the people to protect the federal governments police. And it does.
If anything makes us a police state, its this, not cops enforcing state laws. The FBI seems to be weaponizing federal law against citizens and political opponents, and not applying federal law at all to their chosen political cabal. We see this shit in authoritarianarian states across the world and throughout history. People just cant see it up close I guess. Do we need to start making certain FBI positions short term elected positions that require law enforcement AND legal experience to hold, and with requirements that they not ever be involved with any partisan political lobbying for life? Currently to my knowledge they generally just have law degrees to enter the FBI. Having the power to litigate AND enforce without being elected is corrupting... and probably part of the reason DA's are kept seperate from police departments & require an election. No fucking clue what the legal remedy for this even CAN be if theyre their own investigator and prosecutor. Perhaps im misunderstanding the process, but it looks pretty corruption prone to me.
